I don't understand these kind of calculators. What's that DPI supposed to show me?

Your DPI shows your total damage output, factoring in attack speed, dmg, crit and crit %.

If you only improve your dmg lines and give up crit, your DPI can go down. This is why it is important to look at your entire character instead of just one thing. You can boost your dmg but lower your character overall if you are not paying attention, which kind of defeats the purpose.

You also need to consider your effective HP. You want to make sure that you can survive in bigger mobs. Lots of dmg is nice, but if die too often you really aren't gaining that much.

Exactly! I can reach 10k max damage, but my crit and crit damage disappear. Then I'm doing less damage over time and I've made a mistake my looking at only one facet of offence.

The only stat that can be argued over (on a DK) is the speed. Between DOT attacks like BWS and Dragon Furry, and the long (3 second) cool down on the main heal, here is not too much need for speed. Also, if you account for speed break points, then the speed becomes even less of a factor in the big picture for a DPS DK.

Not just for DK's , in PVE speeds is kinda useless for SW as well cause the frozen sphere is independent of speed and i guess same goes for SM aswell as turret speed is constant

Its the average damage you do per sec.

I have no damage lines on my equipment in my current build. I bought the Bloodtooth because I like critical.
    Here's what I came up with:[IMG]
I just reduced my min and max damage with 200 for the mech axe build, so I don't know if I did good or not and it may be completely wrong. (?)
Because I didn't get any other item from this set in my few runs so I selected the belt as a better choice since my armor won't drop extremely low if I decide to use my 2 armor lines gloves (& 5% atk speed).
If my calculations are close to what it will be like... If I buy and use the axe + 2 other pieces... I don't see any possible improvements to this choice in the future.
    EDIT:
Forgot the critical damage from the gloves (I've used 25%):
    EDIT2:
I made a mistake but I can't undo it since I can't access the game now... But the CHR I used has the 10% bonus from the Keen set (except the "Current-ish" tab), and I can't figure out how to remove that from it!

    Hi guyz

I have a question too..I have lvl47 SM with Damage around 1700-2300...2-H setup.. With 6-9% critical.

So, as SM do i need more crit....I'm focusing on dmg 3000+

Right now If i try to get crit close to 50% my damage come down 1100-1400...

I don't rely on just one type attack....so which option would be better for me. Should I get more crit on my SM?

    No!

Dwarven turrets do not deliver critical damage. Ideal critical hit value is 0, and ideal critical damage % is also 0. If going 2H, you want a 3x weapon damage % and 1x +damage gun. You also would want a 4x +damage adornment (the bullets).

SM's most valuable skill is their turrets which do not benefit from crit. If you are going to do a 2H build going for max damage, you want 0 crit and 0 crit damage if you can.
Or the Defender's weapon decoration if you've gotten it or if you have a chance in the future. It gives you way more damage than even a perfect LVL 55 4x + damage decoration (along with a nice little resistance line).

You didn't answer me! Would you buy it if you were in my place... with only 2x11 and 2x7 dmg gems to add to it?
Anyway I got a new sword...
    ...and...
Would you go with the defender wpn adrnmnt ("new sword" tab) or with my CHR one [3 chr lines and 1 dmg] (last tab)?

With that new sword, you are probably better off with your new sword build. I'd say that you should go with the Defender's Adornment for now considering it will give you the higher DPS and that resistance will help you defensively. Also, we know the next big event after Dragan will be the next defender's event, so you'll get the 2/5 15% armor set bonus from the next event (providing the item is usable in your build). That being said, always keep looking for a pure crit decoration (or craft one) because in time it will pay off more than the "little" bit of damage that the defender's decoration.

You still haven't answered my question!
    .
I tried the sword and despite the faster killing my dying probability increased because I heal less with MWS with it compared to the axe... so I switched back to the axe.
    ..
I've gathered enough ander to buy both the axe and the belt on sale... I hope I won't end up wasting it on the Dragan event.
    ...
I saw it somewhere on the forum, but I can't find it. A link would be appreciated.

I don't understand this. If your DPS is higher, you should heal more... especially when surrounded by a large quantity of mobs.

Regarding your question, I thought I addressed it when I said:
I wouldn't buy it now that you have that slightly better sword. In fact, if you can farm the sword from the Dragan event, I'd go with that one instead of buying the axe without a second thought.

    Your wish is my command.

That's because of the bigger CHR with the axe.
It's not that different compared to the one I have, considering my gems... and still no crit... If I manage to get it and add an element to it (except lightning), I might use it.

Oops ... Picture speaks eventyhing. Question: Where did you learn math dude, seriously? 1000 crit gain? where?
You point fingers at all how everyone is clueless except you, ok expert. How do you explain this now?

Decoration is 4x crit, amulet is 3x crit, ring is 3x crit (all over 210+)

"And a crit line on the weapon"

Bloodtooth is less efficient than pure offensive legendaries when you have less than 3,5k crit.

Do you have a crit line on the weapon ?

    ...Case closed.

Yes the pic does tell all. If there actually was a decent amount of crit to start with (say 4k sans adornment) the 25% would yield an additional 1k.

    Luck be with ye,

Thats not upgraded items same as baragain compared ... You wanna "be super nice to him" and make me look bad, fine. :D

Oh, ok. :D I can do that.

1000 critical gain is never gonna happen vs legendary ring. If you can do it proove it, bouth of you, but no cheating.

Wow, so you replace a ring with crit with a Bloodtooth and then you are surprised that you don't get an increase of 788?

My math is right, and you are just as clueless as I thought. Just read the posts below yours and like I said "Sure, go ahead and show us some screenshots so that you can embarrass yourself with how much you don't know about how math works and I can school you like a 5th grade math student." Both Zed and Mikey know more about this game than you do apparently.

If you want to see how much the ring gives you, snap a picture with the ring and then with an empty ring slot like I did in my profile post (and now below)... You want to know what will happen? You'll see that ring really gives you exactly 25% of the crit that you have from those other items.

Feel free to just admit you are wrong or delete you your posts so that people don't realize just how huge of a [EDIT] you are.

I already proved it in my profile post, but I'll do it here to so that it is easier to find and everyone can have a laugh at your expense.

    Here are the pics.
I have a belt with 912 crit, a decoration with 1080 crit, a sacred Onyx worth 335 and a LVL 54 axe that has 1647. That adds up to 3974 crit. My Bloodtooth gives me 994 crit. When I LVL up my belt next, I'll break the 4k mark and be getting more than 1000 crit from my Bloodtooth.

The extra crit you see more than the 3974 base crit I have is the 4% crit that I get from the Christmas gem I have in my helm. 3974*1.04=4133. That is within rounding error.

So, that is 994 crit and 990 hp with out a single glyph spent on the ring. That frees me up to spend all my glyphs on my belt, decoration, and weapon since they are the only ones that offer upgradable offensive stats (other than Tear Holder which isn't worth spending glyphs on beyond using it as a glyph bank in between upgrading other items) and all my other offensive stats are % based and amplify my DPS based on the stats from those the items.

I've proved my point, now it is your turn to prove yours. Show me a legendary ring that you think is better.

    @ Nero

It is a SW but the crit is working same way for all classes.

    First Ring

    Second ring
    [IMG]

And now my stats when replacing the first ring with bloodtooth

If you are using that ring you will need to compensate the crit elsewhere ... which will lead you to other stat's loss

    EDIT
    1111 crit hit in total
