    So I've been trundling along, working to improve the damage my Spellweaver can do. I have a Legendary wand which has been decent enough. Then along comes an Extraordinary wand that has a higher damage amount, two increased damage lines and a higher increased weapon damage line.

    The legendary has a critical hit line and a faster attack speed.

    DSO calculates the Extraordinary to have a 160,13 DPS with the Legendary at 147,64 DPS.

    When I use the Drakensang Optimizer, it is clear that the Legendary is much better than the Extraordinary and it seems that way when I play it (even accounting for the gems).

    Here are the two items:

    So my question is... why would DSO calculate so differently? Do I need to test every weapon in the Optimizer to determine which is better (or trial and error of course)?

    I feel like I'm missing a piece of logic.

    Thanks in advance for any insight you can share!

    The calculation on the weapon, as far as DPS, only includes the items on the weapon it can compute which doesn't include the crit chance. It also includes any speed or damage gems you put into it. So if you moved those damage gems to the exo item the numbers would be more exaggerated. The damage calculator to be accurate needs to have all items you wear included because it also utilizes other factors such as Crit Dmg, Crit% chance and total speed.

    If you want the most accurate comparison you should use the optimizer Matsume developed and get your total DPS, not just weapon DPS. IT will also let you look at differences if you increase gem sizes and numbers and you may find that weapon that is lower now could be significantly better than another with larger gems and upgrades. Weapons Dmg% is the big one in that arena.

    The Extro wand will have higher 1 hit damage it will on normal attacks be higher in time vrs legendary wand. You Lightning Strikes will have a higher damage also. The bad part is you will not crit as often and this can play a big factor in over all game play.

    DSO takes you high and you low and adds them and devices by 2. 143.50~134.49 plus 176.50~177.49 = 320.26 divided by 2 160.13 multiplied by speed 1 gives you 160.13

    Legendary wand is 122.5~123.49 plus 151.50~152.49 divided by 2 is 137.46 multiplied buy speed 1.074 is 147.63

    Thanks for both replies. I see how DSO does it (basic but maybe not the best representation of actual worthiness).

    So to see how things turned out when I did everything in the Optimizer, I end up with impossible numbers. For example, it says my attack speed is 48.594 attacks/second. And there is no way I do 1,171,918.15 damage/second which it also says I do. I was sure to calculate the true base on items when DSO had added it in to the total at the top.

    As an example, for the Legendary above, this is what I added to the Optimizer:

    Is there something I'm missing to get more reasonable numbers? I'd really like to compare things on an equal footing and learn how to better identify things I should be keeping. Makes me wonder what treasures I've tossed away in ignorance!

    [Edit]
    I think I found one thing! I'm betting the 7.4% increased speed should be .074 instead.

    :::: off to recalculate! ::::

    [Edit]
    :::: recalculations complete ::::
    Boy, what a few decimal places do! I still think it the Optimizer is off a bit as I don't see me doing 6.213 attacks / second but at least the damage ranges are more what I see when playing!

    Put the percentage symbol in for things like weapon enhanced damage and speed

    When you type values in optimizer it will erase percentage signs. Make sure you replace these where needed. Weapon damage should be 18.7% Attack Speed should be 7.4%.

    ----EDIT----
    :DNova beat me to it:D
