    Hello guys and gals,

... I am going to write about something we are all at fault of ...

    ... Chatting while running a map ...

It is not proper to sit and chat with your friends while you are in a map with a group ... I do not know of anyone who enjoys playing with someone who stands in a corner and answers questions from individuals who are standing in the Atrium or just signed online. I personally am going to do my best from now on to refrain from chatting in the middle of a map. In group ,chat is always needed. Out of group, chatting is un-called for and rude.

I know you, and I as well, feel rude not answering a text in a certain amount of time, especially when someone who has just signed online texts you. But in the act of being nice to that one person, are you not being rude to the people, up to 4 others, whether you like them or not, who you are already in group with, who are dependent apon you for your skillset as well as your damage per second, basically due to the fact the game sets the strength of the mobs by the amount of people in the group as well as the highest ranking player, even if you are a Godly ranked player who can kill it all, the people you are playing with may not be as strong as you and need you, and not you in the corner texting your friend about yesterdays great event or misfortune ... yes / no, maybe even? I don't know ...

I would think it would be better to not accept the invite to a group, if you were in the middle of a conversation that could not wait until you have finished the run. But, I am old school and that is not acceptable in todays age ... Manner's do not have a place in today's online world ... It is a race to see who is the most rude ... Parents don't teach their children manners they allow the internet to do that for them ... That is where they meet other children that have had no raising to mention and all of a sudden wallah! You have a group of heathens running rampant calling everyone a "NOOB" ... How I so hate that term ... It should be banned ... It is nothing more than a degrading word meant to demean or belittle another.

Is there not a way to inform other players of one's whereabouts so they will not chat to you while you are in the middle of a map? Could there not be a setting, once you click that setting and you are not in a designated chat area, pre-set by the individual player via some form of slide bar setting tab, that you will not receive texts/chats until you return to a designated chatting area where you will be informed of all missed texts?

Really hard reading paragraphs of text that are aligned center. x_x

Honestly, I think there's a much easier solution to all this. Either ask the person to participate properly, or never party with them again.

    I agree with Silverseas.

    Pluderpigge,
Just block them if they are habitually doing something that doesn't meet your 'unique' group etiquette standard. I block people who stop to say they need to go on cigarette break every 30 minutes. Your call dude. Just handle it without all of the formality of some developer 'setting'. You already have the controls in your [F]-key social block list.

Unrelated but, well, moderately related.... Wouldn't it be cool if we could give ourselves a title? What would the word "Noob" be if 50% of the toughest blokes out there listed themselves that way? Word wouldn't be an insult anymore!

And as for the texting....a quick "In a group" text should work to let the other person know you are busy and can't type to them at the moment. Just because THEY want to chat with you doesn't mean you are free to do so. Just my $0.02.

This is a social media problem that has permeated society. It's the buthead that thinks they can text and drive without causing problems like being slow away from lights and staying in thier lane, let alone rear ending someone else or hitting a pedestrian. All because their butt vibrated from the phone in their back pocket and they feel rude if they don't answer the life critical "what's up dude" text they just got.

You're not being rude when you prioritize something important that you are doing over trivial chatter. In fact it's the other way around. How rude of someone to interrupt you like that.

If I am in a random pick up group and a friend messeges me "hey, want to run map2?" I will probably stop long enough to drop group and join my friend. And if I am with friends, I will probably be chatting with them, or they will under stand if I take a min or to to chat with someone. I am almost never in such a rush (except boss runs) that I can not stop to write at least a little something back.

P.S. OP, you must really like polls.

Once again the individuals who actually admit in their response to doing the exact thing I mentioned was so rude, try to come in and say ... Oh, its ok! ... All while two players that they were running with, just died in the corner ... This only shows how callus these people are towards other players ... So, no matter how you try to justify it, it is not okay, even if you are running with your friends and especially if you are running with people that you do not know ... rude is rude ... Because stopping in the corner and chatting, becomes a habit, it does not remain an occasional thing ...

I ask you this? ... Does the game take into consideration that you are texting while in the middle of a run? ... No, it does not ... Well the game sure takes into account your damage per second and level, not to mention the count of players in the run, as it sets the skill level of the run ... And if one of those players, the game has taken into account to set the skill level, is sitting in a corner texting for what that person deems to be a second ... you are making it harder on everyone else ... And the fact that these same individuals continually refuse to acknowledge this fact proves that these same individuals do not understand the reasoning behind the idea fore mentioned in the oricinal post and that these same players are why I am putting the idea to a vote ... they are being what is called "self centered" ... They are not someone that you can to rely on ... They will at their leisure, put you in a jam .

I find that the fact veterans are generally the ones who read the forum and those that are here are most probably what the lower skilled players call godly, you must take this into account as you are reading this ... What is written, may or may not pertain to you ... But it should at least give you a glimpse of the way you are perceived by the other players in your group, as you are doing the, just a second texting in the corner ... And by the way ...

As I mentioned in the original post, if you are talking to the players that you are running with ... Then what is written here does not pertain to you.

I like the game and would really enjoy seeing more players stick around ... But I have known more than one player that has totally given the game up due to the overall rudeness of people who are already at a higher level. These same players could have been helping, but decided to treat the newer player as if they did not exist or worse popped off with the term "Noob", when they simply asked a question you obviously should have no problem responding to, being in or out of a boss run.

Retort as you may but you should take into account what has been written, for it is the blatant truth of the matter and is how you are honestly perceived by those you are in group with, whether they will admit this fact to you or not.

How I do so love my morning rant ...
I hope this text finds you and yours happy, healthy, housed and well fed...

You state this is a rant. Good grief. Give it a rest. I kindly appeal to our board admins to close this thread since this rant is leading nowhere productive.

So? Your post is mostly opinion. Whether something is "rude" or not is an opinion, not a fact.

No forum master, seeing how you obviously either did not comprehend, to whom or for what reason I was replying, it was specifically directed towards DesertKoala in reference to the ending of this thread. In the statement being made it was "getting no where productive". Being the reason I added their statement. Just as I did, your opinion, Novadude.

~ When you post a ranty opinion in the forum, you must be prepared for some posters having opinions other than your own, and for them expressing said views in contrary to your own.

~ "Noob" is only "offensive" if you choose to be offended by it. I personally feel the term to be a childish one which speaks volumes about the person uttering it, while saying noting about the target.
