Spam Threads

I couldn't help noticing... but what's with all the stupid, useless and annoying spam threads being posted all over? It's sad to see any message board being flooded with that kind of... advertisements (?). LOL, in the gap of a couple minutes between my posting of one other thread and this one, 6 more such spam threads have been posted, with more of them coming in every minute. WTH ?!

I'm sorry about those spammers, but there's nothing we can do except manually ban them and delete all of those threads, trust me, it's hell of a job, but we try to keep the forum clean as much as we can, so I hope you and others can have a little understanding - we really do try our best about this.

What Melethainiel said. We literally have a repository where we dump all that spam that is almost 160 pages long. It only became a huge problem about 2-3 months ago, and since then, if it were not for the vigilance and quick action of the moderator team, the entire forums would be flooded with that garbage. The best thing you can do if you see this is to either ignore it (we will get to it as soon as we see it) or click "Report" (and again, we will get to it as soon as we see it).

 

I understand, and I respect the fact that you're dealing with the situation as best as you can. I imagine it must be tedious and bothersome for you. I was just curious about them, and if it was a known problem. Thanks for answering.

 

Actually, it is not as tedious as you might think. It takes me all of 60-90 seconds to ban the spammer and clear the spam, but the fact that I even have to is what upsets me. Also, If I don't notice the spam for 40-60 min because I'm playing the game (Yes, I play and don't just sit there hitting refresh on the forums all day), It can be an unsightly mess for the community until one of us comes around and cleans things up.

Who does (aside the spammers and/or trolls themselves) ?

 

Spam is really popular in Hawaii. It's actually not that bad but has a bad reputation.

I suggested before but maybe a captcha thing for logging in would help.

 

The other thing that spam has in common with SPAM is that no one knows what is in it.
