to open 1 legendary chest or 4 extra ordinaire

Just wondering what will be the best. Opening 1 legendary chest, or 4 extra ordinaire.

- GoP are the same

- 1 legendary item to 4 EO items. In favor for legendary chest ?

- 300 red ess to 1200 purple ess -> in favor for EO chest

- gems ?? amount the same but more chance of bigger gems at the legendary chest ?

anything else ? I'm not sure wich ones to take.

While the GOPs are the same, you stand a chance, albeit a small one, of getting a good legendary without having to pay about 100 gold. There is also the andermant jackpots. One jackpot from a gold chest is 10 times larger than the jackpot in an exo chest. I say gold chest. Also, I have seen as much as 500 reds, but you are right that it is usually only 300ish.

 

I prefer it this way...

Below lvl 45 - extraordinary chest, because GoP aren't the same value due to the item lvl that you will get + there is a higher chance of getting the jackpot 25K AM, since you're going to open 4x more chests.

At lvl 45 - legendary, because now it's very hard to obtain or craft one.

Or better yet save all lock picks that you can get and wait for the new expansion+lvl cap is released.

I farm LP's daily as part of my routine and open a leg chest every 5 days (I know, i'm crazy like that). Max reds I have seen is 570, normally in the 350 zone. I get full gems quite often, but mostly 2 or 3 smaller ones, and the occasional polished. I can't really compare Ex to Leg as I don't open the Ex. I would suspect there are more drops from a leg chest comparing 1 ex to 1 leg, but you would be opening four times as many so would logically get more total drops. Most of them would be fluff though, coin, pots, etc. I have never had a jackpot.

 

yeah , forever, the only chests I open are Legendary..never open others, just don't...I don't have any other reason, other than to want red essence, isave it, really don't even use it, often I open the blues , if I only need the essence, any gems from those are fine, I prefer to farm all, if that leg item is no good, I just melt it, most legendary I craft at past lev 30, when you add ten levels or more to certain crafted ways, most gear ya find is junk, melt that too, it all goes back to th eitem ive made, as I try to put one million glyghs in everything..the only items that seem to be better, is a good gear set, I don't find many items better at all, nice new comparison item charts , like those, I really don't care if I win ander or not, one day maybe, but sure don't log on expecting anything..!

@ papa. You farm 20 keys a day ? That's around 200 chests to open. Where and how do you do that if I may ask ?

 

That is what I say just about every time I read anything from him.

Might I suggest that if English is not your first language krom, you posts might actually be easier to read if you write them in your native language being very careful to use good grammar, spelling, and punctuation and then running the entire thing through Google translate.

 

Atlantis Above Water has 6 shabby chests in the beginning part of the map that are there all the time, (not random spawn). I put all my speed gear on, cape, Usain Bolt boots, dragon shackle etc. and put something on the TV to watch. I use the universal map to port in, it takes about 90 seconds to run chest to chest, blast the poor atlanteans and pickup loot. The last chest is near the first miniboss, so I blast it, then universal map to the beginning to reset map and start over. The pattern/route between chest becomes second nature. I'd say the drop rate is around 5-6% so its actually closer to 400 chests to open. 20 LP a day takes a little over an hour to 90 minutes depending on how distracting the TV is and how many times I need the vendor. The atlanteans provide plenty of supply drops with the occasional set unique. I may do it all at once or if drops are slow leave and come back later in the day.

Of note: the chests on the entire map are not random spawn, and there are probably 20, but spread all over the map. You could extend the route as far as you wanted all the way to Medusa. But, the first six seemed most expeditious to me. The Universal map saves tons of time since you don't have to wait for recall, city load, and return load.

 

The following is my humble opinion in regards to your question.
L-40 or below,,,probably, ehhh,,,, Extraordinaire, L-41+...Legendary. My reasoning, and of course others will have had a different experience(s), is as
follows: I've opened 8 or 10 legendary chest in the past four to six months (don't play as much as I once did ) or so with prizes ranging from fair to (fill free to insert the adjective 'severely' here) disappointing. And then, a few weeks ago, I opened a legendary chest and found 2 rubies, a flawed sapphire and an level 45 Legendary Myrdosch Mystic Rod. Rubies aside, this Rod, although not the Rod I still dream of finding someday, had much better stats than the previous half dozen Myrdosch Legendary Rods I'd crafted, not to mention the exuberant associated costs of crafting those items, the Legendary L-47 MRod I was using at the time or the Sargon Staff (L-47) I still carried in inventory.
It can be a long road and require a ton of time and patience, but Legendary (41& up) is the only way to go. Either way, best of luck.
ps: BigPapa's routine is very interesting and something I will certainly check out I need all the help I can find.

oh well, you didn't quite get my babble,, no biggy, wasnt sure how to respond was just texting stuff in general.. like many of you make sense either at times,,,but your joke towards , grammer ect, that was funny,, good try..

 

No, the funny thing is that I wasn't joking.

 

I usually throw on my epic mount and power through Catacombs/Crypt of Kings map. Much faster way to open up the same chests and easier to dodge through the mobs of monsters attempting to chase your tail than Atlantis Above Water.

 

But not the same amount of guaranteed chests in such a relatively small area.

 

Did a little exercise.

1) 6 chests in Atlantis above Water on foot = 2:00 min
2) Cata run (12 possible chests, but less then 50% is present) with epic mount = 2:00
3) Cata run on foot (I've 48% running speed) = 2:30 min

The first options seem the best to me. 6 chests a garanteed + you get some loot.

The cata run gives maybe also 6 chests. But on foot (= loot) takes longer. With a mount (no loot for mobs) it takes also 2:00. Besides, the selling price of the loot is less and no chance on a Keen unique.
