... If you find a rare item ... keep it ... even if it is lower than your current level ... hold it until you can identify it ... After much talk and discussion with my NEW guild it has come to light that not everyone who is a long time player with a level 45 toon will tell you the correct thing to do ... My previous guild leader is the one that told me to melt the 3 Deep Sea uniques I had found while questing around Ashraya and Atlantis, (The sword, shield and amulet) He was a joker ... This same player told me not to waste my time on the Deep Sea set but to look for Ammons in PW and the Keens set ... Well the same guild leader, whom I thought was trust worthy, turns out he was found to be a Joker and was kicked from the game ... but before he went, he really put the screws to my toon ... all so he could get a laugh ... so beware there are jokers in the game who dont care one bit to ruin your toon ... It will take a lot of farming to undue the damage done ... If it is even possible to get the items back ...

You're implying that your old guild leader intentionally misled you. That is an assumption on your part. If you are level 45 I would have told you the same thing about the deep sea items. Not because I wanted to get a laugh at your expense, but because there are a multitude of other options that are far better.

In short, we all have advice for people based on our own opinions. That doesn't mean it's right or wrong, simply an opinion.

Yeah, going for keens plus ammons is better than deep sea. Ammons is easier to get for dks, keens is still the best when upped.

What your leader missed was that deep sea becomes really useful at the 3 item mark. The deep sea set has one of the better set bonuses in the game - 10% hp, 20% armor, 60% block rate, 100% crit damage for 2, 3, 4, and 5 items. But a DK is less likely to find them then a SM with the 10% drop bonus, my DK has never found any of them but my SM has 4 items and uses 3.

So because your original guild leader believed that the Ammon/Keen set was better than Deep Sea set, you believe that he was trying to fool you into making a weaker character?

There are many people who believe that the Ammon/Keen set is better, so maybe that was simply his opinion and not some conspiracy to ruin your character.

It's not that hard to do a side by side comparison of gear and determine what is best for your style of playing. It was your choice to listen.

So what you are saying is that he was wrong? ... The set is good ... but ... only if you can find all 5 pieces of the set ... "3 of which I had" ... or ... That he was right? ... I should feel happy about melting the 3 pieces of the Deep Sea Set, it is useless to a DK and I should be just tickled about using the 150,000+ glyphs to upgrade my equipment and go on and get the Ammons and Keens sets ... I am confused here ... but then again ... that is nothing new or different either , I usually run around stumbling in the dark 1/2 the time anyway ... but my point in all of this is ..." After struggling to the extent I have with my DK ... I feel as though I should not have melted the Deep Sea Set, I should have Identified the 3 pieces and kept them in the inventory if I chose not to use them" ... I feel as if they would have come in very handy when running the Parallel World to get the pieces of the Ammons set ... And yes ... I do feel as though the individual in mention, in the original post, who told me to melt the set, reveled, found glee, and joked about the fact I had so much trouble while in the PW trying to acquire the Ammons set after doing so, ... I was there to listen to the jokes and laughter...

Are you asking our opinion about the gear? Nova pretty much answered that.

Your Original Post was that he had intentionally given you bad info, which i don't agree with. I don't know the individual, so your assessment of him seems to be important when deciding to follow his advise.

I do agree with you that if you are not sure, don't melt it. You never know what those set bonuses will actually do with different combinations of other gear or if you get another set that fits in with it. Save it till you need to make hard choices about how to clear out some inventory.

Men you should be thankful to that guy.
That set I wayyyyyyyyy to bad.
You get 100% critical damage without chance to land a critical blow ... and without damage.

Running the PW with that set? I don't think so ... you wouldn't be able to run even in grocery shop with that set. :D:D

You use whatever is best in whatever Now you are in. The Deep Sea items are best until they are not.
Mine make nice gem holders now.

You use a low level legendary 2x, 3x or 4x crit ring plus possibly dark helmet. You'll crit hit for 300% damage maybe 35 to 50% of the time.

A possible achievable build for the other pieces would be the full legendary essence gear and the vargulf shield or a high quality legendary shield with at least about 80% block rate.

3+ items from Deep Sea set are basically only good for an SW or a non-tank build ranger. DK with that gear is useless. If you can't deal any damage or take any damage then as a DK you are a fail. UNLESS you're a heavy P2P and you have buffed your Deep Sea gear with Radiant or higher Onyx to compensate for lack of crit but most players I know go for sapphire/ruby combinations and wear crit damage and hit enhanced drop gear and better unique sets and items.
Deep Sea stuff is pure melt for DK.

Not necessarily... Amulet, Weapon decoration, and Ring with Warlord Set and Defender's Belt and Ring, with Keens boots and gloves would have extraordinary HP, Armor, and Block. You would have an excellent flag runner.

300% on 400 base damage is an joke (since you can't add more damage) ... and that crit rate is joke too.
BTW if you are using other shield than the one from set you will not get 100% critical damage bonus.

I just ran the optimizer, and you can get average 525 base damage with over 40% crit rate with the right pieces. if a DK did 5 deep sea plus 4 legendary essence armor (with an average of +25 damage on each) plus dark helmet plus cloak of enlightenment, that would leave two open equipment slots - the belt and the second ring. If you did low level legendary ring (level 6) with 1x dam plus 3x crit, when glyphed to level 40 you should get +19 damage amd 650 to 800 crit. Add the usual 4 polished sapphires and 4 polished rubies plus the steam belt (level 43 quest) and you'll have the damage and crit to get your dk to ~528 avg base damage with just over 40% crit and i believe a 1.63 attack rate..

Get an 2x dam, 2x crit level 45 obsidian belt (or low level legedary from level 1s in ravencaw) to replace the steam belt and boost up the average to 550 and crit to 43 or 45%.

This would be a competitive intermediate build worth considering if by some stroke of luck your dk found all 5 pieces before reaching level 45. My dwarf is actually using a 3 piece deep sea and 4 piece leg essence build for the time being since level 44 while trying to get better pieces, my dk has had a good sword and shield for a long time and thus just switches between a sargon set build and a legendary essence build (while trying to get better pieces); additionally ive never found any of the pieces but my dk was done with temple when the set was introduced.

The weakness of the set is obviously the weak block rate and lack of weapon damage modifiers. Put extra glyphs into the carapace shield.

The shield in that set is hideous. There's no block rate increase on it. That's no kind of shield for anyone trying to tank anything serious. The weapon is low-damage. The other stuff is mediocre at best. The only really good things about that set are the set bonuses.

The only use for that set that I could justify, to myself, would be to get all the OTHER pieces (except the shield) and use my (good) shield with it - but I could only see using that set-up for running flags in 5v5, and I'm not gonna switch gems out all the time - so good luck to those who want this set. I won't be looking for it.

The Atlantis set isn't that horrible and I don't mind hanging onto it until I find something better. Right now I have no desire to do PW farming and have zero luck finding the Roshan set (SW's equivalence to DK's Keen set). I know my DK partner hasn't found any Atlantis items but even if he were to find something, he's pretty content with his current set up with his Vargulf Legacy + Legendary Essence Armament set until he finds something better. He has a few other unique and legendary items but he stores those in locker as gem holder or to swap out gears for kicks.

Both of us only melt stuff if the unique/legendary item has obsolete stats. Even then, I tend to hang onto things... my buddy made the foolish error of melting black squire items before understanding the whole crafting gig, and boy did I blasted him for melting things impulsively without consulting me first. Personally, I melted the Kraken because I dislike using 2-handed weapons and was hoping to find better 1-handed weapons.

According to Einstein's theory of relativity ... everything, even time, is relative. Two important principles underpinned his theory. The first stated that the same laws of physics apply equally in all constantly moving frames of reference. The second said that the speed of light (300,000 kilometers per second) is constant and independent of the observer's motion or the source of light. And the famous equation is:
    E = mc²
.... where E is energy, m is mass and c is the speed of light. According to this equation, mass and energy are the same physical entity and can be changed into each other. In other words ... the faster an object moves the greater its mass. This only becomes noticeable when an object moves really quickly. If it moves at 10% the speed of light, for example, its mass will only be 0.5% more than normal. But if it moves at 90% the speed of light ... its mass will double. As an object approaches the speed of light, its mass rises precipitously. If an object tries to travel with speed of light ...its mass becomes infinite, and so does the energy required to move it.
So this theory states that no object can travel faster than light.

If we could exceed the barriers to approaching light speed we could theoretically experience time running backward. As we approach light speed time goes slower in the outside world than it does for us. If we hit light speed the outside world goes so slow in relation to us that it stops. So if we could push past that speed limit ... the outside world would be so slow as to be moving backward in relation to us.

BUT ... there are possible ways in which objects can travel faster than light.

One way is via wormholes. If we find or create one ... it may give us a shortcut across space and time. If we could assemble stellar amounts of energy in a spinning ring ... centrifugal force prevents the spinning ring from collapsing ... anyone passing through the ring would not be ripped apart but would wind up on an entirely different part of the universe.

Another way might be to tease apart a wormhole from the “quantum foam” which physicists believe makes up the fabric of space and time at the Planck length (10 to the minus 33 centimeters). If we could use large amounts of energy to continuously stretch space and time (contracting the space in front of us and expanding the space behind us). Since only empty space is contracting or expanding ... we may exceed the speed of light in this way. Of course this requires vast amount of energy ... so ... it is possible if we could use 10 to the 19 billion electron volts (which is quadrillion times larger than the most powerful atom smasher).

    Conclusion
We would sooner travel faster than light ... than I am about to use that set.

sure. you're already endgame. people seem to be missing the term "intermediate"; deep sea isn't an end game set but it is an useful leveling set to use to get that end game set. A level 45 DK that already has end game gear or a quality sword and shield combo should melt the deep sea set; it's the DK at level 40~43 that should think about using the set if 3 or more pieces have been found.

in my case, my dwarf (which just turned level 45, and does have the 10% drop bonus) came pretty close to the build described above by level 44. Missing pieces included 1 perfect low level legendary away (i did get a 2x crit and 1x dam and 1x critdam% ring, but chose to glyph up a 1x crit, 1x dam, 2x armor ring), the belt (never tried to get one, went with the sparks belt, since the dwarf machine belt has armor stats while the DK machine belt is a damage and crit belt) and the deep sea chitlin ring (somehow I managed to get the other pieces twice over, and some three time, without getting the chitlin ring). Since I turned level 45, I will not try to complete the set; but using the deep sea set from level 42 to level 45 made leveling up really easy.

It takes 1 week(or less) to get from level 40 to level 45. In that time frame ... i doubt you can collect all the parts ... and if you do ... I doubt you can collect CoT to ID them.

It all comes down to what u really want for ur toon, any way right combination can give good overall even if item by itself isn't the best.
